Ho‘oulu Kaiaulu: Community Service Hours Requirement

Community service is a vital part of our legacy, inspired by our founder, Bernice Pauahi Bishop. It benefits our Native Hawaiian community and Hawaii, offering volunteers valuable professional experience and promoting personal growth. This service brings people together, strengthens community bonds, and boosts self-esteem. Moreover, each act of volunteering is a learning opportunity that deepens our connections and our bonds of aloha and kuleana that Pauahi embodied. All of our scholarship recipients must engage in these transformative community service experiences to fulfill their scholarship terms and conditions.

In AY 2023-2024, the community service requirement was optional for some of our scholarships and required for others. All students receiving a AY 2024-2025 KS College Scholarship must complete community Service.

For SY 2023-24 Awardees:

  • 10 hours of community service are required for Po‘okula, Ka‘i Lanakila, and Nowelo scholarship recipients.
  • You must complete your ten (10) hours of community service by June 30, 2024.
  • Report your community service hours in the Community Service Portal.
