Action planning

Action planning teams led an intense process that spanned five months of meetings, planning and negotiation. The purpose of the teams was to move the organization from strategy and goals on paper to action plans for implementation. About 130 KS leaders and staff were involved in the cross-functional efforts, contributing their valuable experience, deep networks, and innovative ideas.

The teams generated more than 150 recommendations, which were categorized and organized into recommended actions. KS executives and leaders then worked to focus the most pressing and time-sensitive of those into ten actions that set a foundation for the work outlined in SP2020.

Not all of the recommendations from the action planning teams are within scope of the foundational years of SP2020. The documents below were submitted in December 2014 and contain recommendations that have informed current priorities and may also inform future decisions.

CEO shares strategic plan with staff

On Dec. 23, 2014, KS trustees approved the strategic plan that will guide the next five years of work at Kamehameha Schools. Results from a recent KS employee survey indicate a high level of understanding and support for the plan; however, staff and faculty also expressed concerns about how the organization will implement SP2020.

Employee meetings at the group and divisional level in early 2015 will give staff opportunities to discuss SP2020 impacts to programs and operations. Throughout 2014, CEO Jack Wong personally visited each group and division at Kamehameha Schools to connect with staff and share the draft plan. The following video is from his presentation to the IT division, held at Ka‘iwakīloumoku on Aug. 29, 2014.
