Kamehameha Schools was founded by the will of Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the great-granddaughter of Kamehameha the Great.

The Ten Actions are the top priorities identified for the fiscal year. They were created to mobilize the organization around a common set of priorities and provide organizational direction toward SP2020 goals.

1. Advance as a world-class KS school system

 
  • Launch new KS school system Tactical Plan
  • Align to meet world-class outcomes
  • Focus on student safety and well-being as an organizational priority
 

Goal One: Network of Native Hawaiian schools

2. Empower the Network of Native Hawaiian schools

 
  • Facilitate formation of Network governance
  • Develop shared measurements, targets, strategies, and mutual supports for the Network and schools
  

3. Complete the build-out of regions

 
  • Establish leadership in all regions
  • Complete regional plans, portfolios, and targets for all regions
  • Advance strategies of existing regions
 

Goal Two: Improved Education System

4. Set shared agenda for statewide partnerships and advocacy

 
  • Develop clear measurements and shared outcomes
  • Establish key strategies including a customer service and communications plan
  

5. Integrate cultural principles (including ʻŌlelo Hawai‘i) system-wide

 
  • Integrate cultural principles in decision making, communications, and operations throughout KS
  • Integrate the Native Hawaiian Culture-Based Education framework as part of the cultural principles
  • Develop cultural principles targets

6. Adopt plans for Pauahi’s lands and resources consistent with cultural principles and regional plans 

 
  • Integrate educational, financial, cultural, community, agricultural and sustainability outcomes, measures and targets
  

7. Strengthen leadership at all levels and infuse a customer-centric service orientation across KS

 
  • Formalize and implement KS leadership development program
  • Enhance services for and relationships with our partners, learners, and families
 

Goal Four: High-performing Native Hawaiian organization

8. Establish enterprise information management system

 
  • Align with enterprise outcomes, measures, and targets
  • Develop internal data governance, protocols, and information sharing
  • Establish protocol for sharing information with external partners
  

9. Use enterprise resource model for planning and decision making at all levels

 
  • Build Financial Planning & Analysis teams to support implementation and use of tools
  • Integrate organization-wide approaches for using this system
  • Develop strategies to optimize revenues within the context of the enterprise resource model
 

Goal Five: Impact-driven resource management

10. Pursue Key Advancement strategies

 
  • Build intermediary infrastructure to direct giving toward SP2020 strategies
  • Advance relationships with large national funders
