Over the past 3 months, my mind has been spinning. Well, itʻs not literally spinning, but it feels like it is. I’ll graduate on Friday, July 26.  Many seniors at this time of the school year are probably going through the same feelings and emotions that I am such as feeling scared, nervous, excited, overwhelmed, and confused, all at the same time. Just typing those emotions out made me feel a rush of all of them at once. It can be very hard to cope with these emotions during this time because, for many people, the most frightening thing in life is not knowing what your future holds. Because you do not know what you will be doing one, five, or ten years from now, you begin to feel overwhelmed and excited at the same time. It is at the point when you are feeling the most overwhelmed and scared about what the future holds, that you must trust in God.
Jeremiah 29:11 states, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” When God says that his plans are not there to harm us, this allows the scared and overwhelming feelings to leave your system. The thought that your future will be bad is what makes you have those scared and overwhelming emotions. Knowing and trusting in the Lordʻs promise that your future will be full of happiness and peace, will take away the spinning feeling of being overwhelmed with contradicting emotions.
Taking a look at my situation where I do not know what the future holds, I no longer worry that I will be a failure in college. I no longer worry that I will be poor and living on the side of the road without a job. Now, I have peace in my heart because I know that whatever happens to me in the future, it's all a part of Godʻs perfect plan for me.
