2 No ka mea, he ʻike pono kaʻu e hāʻawi aku nei iā ʻoukou,
Mai haʻalele ʻoukou i koʻu kānāwai.
3 No ka mea, he keiki nō wau a koʻu makua,
He mālama ʻia, a he hānau kahi i mua o koʻu makuwahine.- Na Solomona 4:1-3

1 Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction;
pay attention and gain understanding.
2 I give you sound learning,
so do not forsake my teaching.
3 For I too was a son to my father,
still tender, and cherished by my mother.- Proverbs 4:1-3

Ka Manaʻo o ka haumāna o Kaipo Asing, KS Maui ’23- Ka Papa Kou

Life has so much to offer. There is so much I have learned and so much I have yet to learn. Looking at it, my father has taught me a lot of the skills I am equipped with. Skills that will help me throughout life. For example- changing the oil or a spark plug in a car, how to catch certain fish, and how to gut/clean animals or fish, just to name a few. There is so much more I want to learn from my dad, like how to drive standard, how to cook mean food on the grill, and when the time comes, how to be a great father just like him.

Proverbs 4 talks about wisdom and taking the right path toward your future - “Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction; pay attention and gain understanding. I give you sound learning, so do not forsake my teaching. For I too was a son to my father.” Taking this into account, wisdom is powerful. Listening to what your parents have to say can help change you for the better. You may not realize it now, but they want to help shape you into the best version of yourself. They want you to succeed in life and put themselves on the line just for the betterment of your future.

When the time comes and I become a father, I want to be looked at the same way I look at my father. Love, passion, protection, guidance, and the list goes on. There is so much knowledge I have learned and want to learn that I can then pass on to my children.
