Lawe aʻela ʻo Iēhova ke Akua i ke kanaka, a hoʻonoho ihola iā ia ma ka mahina ʻai ma ʻEdena, e mahi a e mālama ia wahi.- Kinohi 2:15

The Lord God then took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden, to cultivate and care for it.- Genesis 2:15

He Manaʻo o ka Haumāna Nāhalelāʻauonāaliʻi Dukelow, KS Maui ’23- Ka Papa Kou

In Eden’s garden, God’s domain
He placed a man, his work to gain.
A task to tend, a land to care,
And keep it clean, with love to share.

The soil was rich, the earth was young.
A world to shape, with every lung
The trees to prune, the fields to till.
A life of work, with God’s good will.

The man was pleased, to work and thrive
To see the fruits, of his own drive.
To watch the plants, grow tall and strong,
And sing a song, with nature's throng.

But with this makana, came great demand
To take the call, of God’s command.
To care for Earth, with love and grace
And keep it pure, for every race.

So, let us learn, from Adam’s fate
To tend with care, and not to hate.
For we are makaʻāinana, of this land
And tasked to keep it, in God’s own hand.
