We are very excited to announce our upcoming ʻOhana Night featuring Native Hawaiian MMA Champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane! Ilima will provide digital and physical defense and education to help us manage cyberbullying and keep our ʻohana safe!

The night will give the entire ʻohana a chance to:

  • Learn how to manage cyberbullying to protect your physical and mental well-being, and
  • Learn basic self-defense maneuvers and strategies to keep you and your ʻohana safe. Please dress comfortably if youʻd like to learn these basic self-defense maneuvers and strategies.

ʻOhana night will take place in Laʻamea Gym on 2/4/25 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Follow the signs and guides for parking. A light dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. followed by an interactive session from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. All ʻohana members are welcome!

Ilima-Lei Macfarlane is a Native Hawaiian MMA fighter, activist, and advocate for Indigenous rights. A graduate of Punahou School and San Diego State University, she holds a B.A. in Anthropology and a M.A. in Liberal Studies with a focus on indigenous issues. As a five-time Bellator MMA World Champion and Jiu-Jitsu black belt, Macfarlane is a prominent figure in the sport.

Beyond her fighting career, she is passionate about addressing the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit (MMIWG2) crisis. She founded Na Wahine Toa Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting and empowering Native women, and works as an outreach coordinator for NDN Collective, supporting Indigenous communities affected by climate and environmental injustices.

Living in San Diego with four rescue dogs, Macfarlane advocates for wahine empowerment and land back issues. She hopes to eventually return to O'ahu to be closer to her family and work for both her community and the larger Indigenous movement.
