Michelle W. Swartman

Planning and Development Manager II

Michelle Swartman is responsible for managing long-term community development plans for Kamehameha Schools assets in the Ka‘ōnohi, Waiawa, and Waipahū—ensuring mission alignment, fiscal sustainability and cultural relevance.

Prior to joining the KS, Michelle served as the Director of Land & Community Development for ‘Ohana Real Estate Investors, LLC—a hospitality-focused investment, development and management group with lands on Kauaʻi. Her work history also includes project management roles at Grove Farm and Maryl Construction for two large master planning and entitlement efforts also on Kaua‘i.

Michelle is passionate about seeking enhanced opportunities of community development that involves community engagement and collaboration. Her experience with government relations, master planning entitlements and long-term strategies has allowed her to work in a number of capacities within the real estate industry over the last 25 years.

Having lived on the Garden Isle for 13 years, Michelle has served on several boards, including the Kauaʻi County Cost Control Commission appointed by the former Mayor Brian Baptiste, Wilcox Hospital Foundation, the Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative Foundation, and currently, the Waipā Foundation.

Michelle is a graduate of Punahou School and the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.

Born and raised on in the ʻEwa moku of Oʻahu, Michelle’s favorite past times include traveling, watching baseball, riding horses and snorkeling.
