Windward Mall Celebrates Make Music Hawai‘i Day on Monday, June 21 with Live Music at the Center

The annual worldwide music celebration will feature performances by actor-singer Kathleen Stuart and Island Idol winner Rachel Faith

Windward Mall is pleased to celebrate Make Music Hawai‘i Day on Monday, June 21 with two live performances in Center Court. Make Music Day is a worldwide music celebration held annually. Every kind of musician — young and old, beginner and professional, of every musical persuasion — will pour onto Hawai‘i’s streets, parks, plazas, and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. This Monday at Windward Mall, actor-singer Kathleen Stuart and Island Idol winner Rachel Faith will perform in Center Court.

Originating in France in 1982 as the Fete de la Musique, Make Music Day is now held in 1,000 cities around the world in 120 countries that coordinate citywide music celebrations on June 21. In 2020, Make Music Hawai‘i became an official chapter to join Hawaiʻi with participating cities around the world. The vision of Make Music Hawai‘i is to create community events and programs that are open to everyone who wants to take part. Make Music Hawai‘i is more than an event, it is a worldwide, evergreen platform that elevates Hawai‘i, its music, its people, and its culture.

WHEN: Monday, June 21 from 3:30–5:30 p.m. featuring Kathleen Stuart and 6:30–7:30 p.m. featuring Rachel Faith

Actor-singer Kathleen Stuart will bring jazz to Windward Mall with soothing and happy music that our kūpuna remember and that younger generations request for a classic feel. Born and raised in Kāneʻohe, Stuart was drawn to London, England for her education in musical theatre. As a student of legendary theatre director and educator Ron Bright, she has been working in theatre, film and TV in Hawai‘i, New York, and across the country. The Kathleen Stuart Trio was formed in 2018 in New York City with weekly performances and a residency at The Rum House in Times Square. Stuart is delighted to be home for Make Music Day and to be able to share jazz standards with her community; timeless songs, simultaneously old and new, that have woven their way into the musical tapestry in Hawai‘i!

Born and raised on Oʻahu, Rachel Faith has been performing since she was 8 years old. She graduated from Sacred Hearts Academy in 2020 and has starred in more than 30 musicals. Faith won the Island Idol title during the singing competition at Windward Mall that gave her the silver ticket to American Idol in 2019. She is also the 2020 grand champion of Hawaii Stars who plays the ‘ukulele, writes song, and jams with live bands. Faith is currently is the female vocalist of Poprox Hawaii, an 80s and retro band, and a host for Hot Rock TV.

Windward Mall is committed to doing everything it can to protect the community’s health, safety and well-being. The Center continues to monitor the news around COVID-19 and the mandates of public health and the state/local government officials. The health and safety of Windward Mall’s customers, employees and community remain a top priority. The Center will continue to take extra precautions and follow cleaning and disinfecting guidelines as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization, including:

• Higher frequency of cleaning and disinfecting the Center;
• Making hand sanitizers available throughout the Center; and
• Reminding visitors of the importance of personal hygiene.

Windward Mall plays a key role in its community and continues to be in compliance with state and county authorities. Signs have been posted outside and throughout the Center informing patrons that they should wear CDC-recommended face coverings, avoid entering businesses if they have a cough or fever or otherwise do not feel well, maintain a six-foot distance from one another, and not shake hands or engage in unnecessary physical contact.
