Keauhou Lane breaks ground in Kaka‘ako

April 27, 2016

Gerding Edlen, a national leader in sustainable development and real estate investment, recently broke ground on Keauhou Lane, a mixed-use project on Kamehameha Schools land in Our Kaka‘ako. The project will include 209 residential units, approximately 32,300 square feet of restaurant and retail space and 280 parking spaces. Keauhou Lane is KS’ first-ever leasehold equity investment with the Portland-based real estate firm.

“Like all of the projects we see coming up around us in Our Kaka‘ako, Keauhou Lane will provide resources to directly support Kamehameha Schools’ core business of educating Native Hawaiian learners,” said KS Trustee Chair Robert Nobriga.“It’s projects like this that help fuel our mission.”

KS Managing Director of Commercial Real Estate Walter Thoemmes says that Keauhou Lane adds to the diversity and vibrancy of Our Kaka‘ako and helps fill the void of affordable rentals in urban Honolulu.

“Developers like Gerding Edlen, who share our vison for transforming Our Kaka‘ako, provide the developer expertise which allows Kamehameha Schools to invest in these types of projects while remaining true to our educational mission.”

Kamehameha Schools’ policy is to give preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.
