The power that God affords us is evident and revealed in this scripture written by King David. Despite simply being human, we are the children of God, the omnipotent, omniscient, and ubiquitous deity that gave us the gifts of salvation and land. As mentioned in Genesis, at the beginning of time, God made us in the likeness of His image and gave us dominion over the land.

This doesn’t go to say that we are equal to God in power and ability, but instead, it shows the trust that God has in us. God put us on this earth for a reason – to fulfill His will for us. Before being conceived or even thought of by your parents, He knew everything there was to know about you and your future endeavors.

God gave us this place to reside, but most importantly to take care of for future generations. If we lose our motivation to watch after the land now, what will be left for our posterity? What will be left for them to survive? How will we thrive?

Simple, accept the gift that is our ʻāina but never take it for granted. God gave it to us for a reason and it is our simple kuleana to continue to pass that knowledge down to our children. We may have dominion, but the ʻāina will be here longer than us and it will express the effects of our efforts. If you love the land, it will take care of you. If you love the land, your children will love it too. Again, e mahi a e mālama i ko ke Akua. Cultivate and care for the creations of God because He first cared for you. May God bless you all, mahalo.
